Mr. Madriz, previously a Senior Tax Associate, has extensive experience in tax planning, domestic and international corporate taxation, and taxation issues arising in mergers and acquisitions, corporate restructuring and other business transactions. Mr. Madriz has advised clients on complex transactions and planning throughout Central America, and has worked closely with the firm’s offices in New Zealand, Spain and Switzerland on global engagements.
Mr. Madriz obtained his law degree from the Universidad de Costa Rica in 1996, where he also completed a specialty course in foreign commerce in 1999. He obtained his Masters’ degree in Corporate Taxation (M.A.F.) from the Instituto de Empresa, Madrid, Spain in 2004, and concluded a specialty course in international taxation at the Universidad Austral de Buenos Aires in 2005. He was a member of the National Commission for Consumers of the Costa Rican Ministry of Economy from 1999 to 2001. Since 2013, he is the author of a column on tax issues for the Costa Rican newspaper La República, and is the director of Pacheco Coto’s tax bulletin, Tax Today.
